Raising around £2million each year, the Weston Park Cancer Charity provide exceptional care and support to thousands of patients across South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire.
WP Cancer Charity is supported by the tireless dedication of our hard-working local community, donating their precious time, energy and creativity to support those facing cancer through innovative fundraising events.
Everyone deserves to feel safe and secure in their home, so when we heard of a Spring fundraising event being held nearby in aid of this essential local charity we felt compelled to show our support.
Held Saturday 14th April at Davys Sports & Social Club on the Prince of Wales Rd, the fundraiser included a raffle, children’s games, bingo and a charity auction in the evening. With an assortment of items donated to the auction via various local organisations – including a Sheffield Wednesday Signed Shirt, Signed Ricky Hatton Boxing Glove and Official Red Arrows Photographs – we decided to donate one of our most popular home improvement products: a made to measure composite door. The winning bidder would have a choice of door design and colour finish to the value of £800, expert fitting included of course.
The door was successfully auctioned and won by Katie Hunt, raising an impressive £700 for WPCC alone!
It was great to see such a well-attended event, with a real sense of community spirit right at its core. In total, a whopping £4,955.50 was raised at this outstanding event!
Brilliantly organised by sisters Katie & Nicola, they wanted to hold a fundraiser to say thank you to WP Cancer Charity for caring for their father – diagnosed with cancer early last year. We’re happy to add that he’s now in full remission, so a big well-done to Katie & Nicola for organising such a fabulous fundraiser; you did WPCC and your dad proud!
