Dirt or debris in the windows’ sliding track could be causing movement issues, so first, check the window track for any dirt and debris. Using a cloth, wipe the track clean. Then, spray a silicone-based lubricant (such as GT85 and/or 3 in 1 oil) onto the cloth, track, and hinges. One of the most likely culprits of windows not closing is paint. If homeowners have painted the jambs numerous times over the years this could add to the thickness of the frame. As the frame is designed to fit snugly, added paint layers can corrupt the integrity of the original fit, making it hard for the window to close properly.
