Here at Global Windows, we’re proud to say we’ve recently given back to our local community by donating £250 to the Bassetlaw Swim Squad (BSS) Crowdfund appeal. BSS is a non-for-profit organisation that provides performance swimming to the Bassetlaw district. The squad are appealing for financial support to give certainty to their talented young swimmers so that they can look forward to competing as Team BSS again.
Who are BSS?
BSS are the performance swimming squad in Bassetlaw that works closely with community based clubs to enhance swimming in the local district. They are the competition outlet for Barnsley Premier Leisure’ Swim Training Squad in Bassetlaw. Their performance Squad ensures swimmers represent their local community club up to county championship level and train up to 10 times each week when striving for national and international success.
Why did we donate?
Unfortunately, due to COVID restrictions, the squad is unable to host their annual competition which raises funds for the following year. The squad has two financial priorities going forward; firstly, to secure enough funds to keep the squad solvent and ensure its longevity in these uncertain times. Secondly, they wish to fundraise to purchase 5 backstroke start ledges; this is because with no practice or meets being available, the skill of using ledges isn’t being practiced which will put their swimmers at a significant disadvantage against larger clubs when competition does recommence.
How you can get involved with BSS
BSS have already been running COVID secure events along with their Crowdfunder to collect the money for the team. They’ll be hosting a Christmas raffle, a cake sale and finishing with a Christmas inspired 24-hour relay on Tuesday 22nd December.
