If you’re considering moving home, what is your main reason? If it’s a relocation for work or you’re moving to be closer to family, a house move is necessary. If however, you need extra space for a growing family or to allow you to work from home, a home extension may be a better option.
Moving house can be stressful. If you’re happy in your home but just need that extra bit of room, have you considered installing a conservatory? Extending your home is usually a far more convenient and cost-effective option than moving. It can make a huge difference to your standard of living and you can stay close to your neighbours who may also be your good friends.
At Global Windows, we have successfully completed hundreds of home extension projects in and around the Sheffield area. Here are some before and after shots to give you inspiration for your own home improvement plans.
Guardian roof and conservatory extension
This fully modernised conservatory extension is almost unrecognisable from the original installation. The Guardian Warm Roof provides extra privacy and better insulation, while the extra brickwork creates a more permanent feel to the conservatory. The white uPVC windows and entrance door have greatly improved both security and energy efficiency, and fit perfectly with the existing bungalow’s aesthetic.
Edwardian style conservatory installation
This stylish glazed extension combines the large areas of brickwork, common in orangeries with a fully glazed conservatory roof for maximum natural light admittance. Classic French doors open onto the back garden where steps lead down to a patio area. The elevated position of the entrance doors helps to protect the conservatory’s interior from potential flooding.
Guardian Roof with Velux window
The old polycarbonate roof on this large conservatory was inefficient and unattractive. The new Guardian Roof has dramatically boosted insulation and performance and looks modern and stylish. A Velux window has been installed in the centre of the new roof to provide more light and to improve ventilation capacity.
Conservatory replacement
This conservatory replacement uses the same footprint as the original extension but completely changes the layout. A new energy efficient glazed roof and uPVC windows have been used to improve living standards, and the original side entrance door has been swapped for an expansive entrance directly onto the main garden area. Contemporary bi-fold doors were chosen for their wide opening capacity, creating a seamless link between interior and exterior living space.
